Director of the documentary Crossing the Bridge: The Sound of Istanbul and the movie Head on brings us new and awarded film that deals with love, tragedy and politics.
Deep and complex story about 6 people in search of forgiveness, reconciliation and happiness. 70 year old Turkish emigrant Ali believes he found a solution for his loneliness when he meets a middle-aged prostitute Yetar. His son Nejat, professor of German literature, does not approve of his father’s relationship.

Political activist Ayten, German student Lotte and her devoted mother, are also a part of this complex story and are connected by two tragic deaths. His world is filled with pain, unexpected grief, loneliness, generation differences with a hint of hope in strangers who provide us comfort when we least expect it

Fatih Akin is a German director and screenwriter. He was born in 1973.in Hamburg of Turkish parentage. He studied Visual Communications at Hamburg’s College. He started his career with two short films. In 1998.he made his first full-length feature film and won the Bronze Leopard at Locarno. In his films he deals with the differences of East and West. He also focuses on people who, like himself, have more than one homeland. He was finally recognized as a talented director in 2000 when he made his big hit, In July. In 2004. he won the Golden Bear and the triumphed on the German and European Film Awards with his excellent drama Head-On.
The Edge of Heaven got him the best screenplay award on last year’s Cannes. His musical documentary Crossing the Bridge: The Sound of Istanbul is another proof of his
talent.
